I dag har jeg adoptert for første gang i mitt liv. Nei ikke fjernadopsjon av et lite barn i 3. verden. Men av et annet lite vesen i en annen del av verden. I dag har jeg nemlig fjernadoptert en koalabjørn.

t a remote adoption of a small child in the 3. world. But another little creature in another part of the world. Today I have remote adopted a Koala.

Det er et koala-sykehus i Australia som har satt i gang dette for å skaffe penger til driften av sykehuset.

It is a koala-hospital in Australia that has started this, to raise funds to keep the hopsital going.

Ellenborough Nancy er antageligvis den villeste Koala-bjørnen vi har hatt på Koala sykehuset. Hun kommer fra langt ut på landet ved Ellenborough, nesten en times kjøring innover i landet fraPort Macquarie, hvor hun ikke var vant til å ha menneskelige naboer på samme måte som de koalaene som bodde lokalt ved Port. Hun er en voksen koala å5,7 kilo. Nancy ble bragt inn med en øye-infeksjon forårsaket av Chlamydia, og ble tatt inn på Sidney University for behandling.
Ellenborough Nancy is probably one of the wildest koalas we’ve had at the Koala Hospital. Harking from the farmlands of Ellenborough, almost an hour’s drive inland from Port Macquarie, she wasn’t used to having human neighbours in the way that the local Port koalas were. An adult female weighing 5.7kg, Nancy was brought in with an eye infection caused by Chlamydia and was admitted to the Sydney University trial for treatment.

As a koala not used to human contact, Nancy wasn’t particularly accommodating to the daily attention of staff, a feeling she made known by a few of her interesting“Ninja-style” swiping manoeuvres that always kept us on our toes. It certainly never got boring withEllenborough Nancy around!
