Weekend in Paris

Så har vi vært en helg i Paris, verdens mest besøkte by. Vi bodde på et lite, gammelt, slitent hotell rett ved Champs Elysees. Hotellet var greit nok, det var forholdsvis rent og vi fikk en OK frokost. Og det eneste vi gjorde der var å sove, dusje og spise frokost.

Now we have been on a weekendtrip to Paris, France, the worlds most visited city. We lived on a small, old, tired hotel, close to the Champs Elysses. The hotel was OK, and mostly clean and we had an OK breakfast. And the only thing we did was to sleep, shower and eat breakfast.

Vi ankom fredag kveld, og kastet fra oss kofferter og gikk rett ut på Champs Elysses. Vi bare ruslet rundt og nøt følelsen, spiste litt mat på en George V (anbefales ikke), hvor vi også fikk en overpriset øl, 90kr!!!!!! Tok en tur opp i Trumf-buen og hadde en fantastisk utsikt over Paris derifra, også til Eiffel-tårnet.

We arrived friday evening, and just dropped our suitcases off and went straigh out on the Champs Elysses. We just walked around and enjoyed the feeling. Had some food at Geroge V (NOT recommended) where we also had the most expesive(normal) beer I've ever had. 11Euro's. Went to the top of the Triumph Arcade, and had a wonderful view of all of Paris and of course to the Eiffel tower.

Lørdag var det 1. mai, og det aller meste av butikker var stengt. Noen få turist-rettede butikker var åpne, og det gjorde at vi fikk sett mye mere enn det vi antagelig ikke hadde fått gjort dersom butikkene var åpne.

Saturday it was May the 1st. which is the Labour-day and most shops was closed. Only a few touristshops was open, and it made sure that we saw more than we would have if the shop had been open.

Vi var "over alt" denne dagen, og med unntak av 1 time på sightseeingbuss, så gikk vi hele dagen. Vi var ved Eiffeltårnet -ikke oppi, fordi vi ville ikke bruke flere timer av den eneste dagen vi hadde på å stå i kø. Vi var ved Louvre, i parken og ved Triangelet, men vi var ikke inne. Man trenger minst en dag for det også.

We went "everywhere" this day, and with the exception of 1 hours on a sightseeing-bus, we walked all day. We went to the Eiffel tower, not up - because we did not want to spend ours in line the only day we were there. We went to Louvre, in the park and in the yard by the Triangle, but not inside. You need at least one day for that as well.

Jeg anbefaler og kjøpe billetter til Eiffeltårnet før du reiser ned (på nett) så slipper du unna halve køen.

I recommend that you buy ticket for the Eiffel tower before you go (online). Then you will have half the wait only.

Vi var i Latinerkvarteret, i kunstnerkvarteret, vi gikk opp og ned Champs Elysses et par ganger.(Det er langt) Samt at lørdag kveld dro vi tilbake til Latiner kvarteret for der var det masse liv om kvelden. Og små trange gater, pubber, små og intime restauranter og store flotte, creperie og mye mye mere. Kjempekoselig.

We went to the Lation-district, the artist district, we went up and down the Champs Elysses a couple of time (its loooong). And in the evning we went back to the Latino district because there was a lot of action down there in the evening. And small alleys, pubs, small and intimate restaurants, and some big ones, creperies and a lot more. It was really nice.

Vi falt i seng litt over midnatt, vel vitende om at søndag skulle vi opp klokka 7, for å begynne reisen hjem.

We fell into bed just over midnight, well aware that we should be out of bed by 07am, to start our trip home.

I og med at butikkene var steng på lørdag, ble det lite shopping. Jeg kjøpte kun en nydelig silkeskjerf i kunsterkvartalet, og fingerbøl til mamma :-) Vi tenkte derimot at vi skulle handle litt på flyplassen, men fy søren så skuffa vi ble. Som reisende til et Schengen-land fikk vi ikke tilgang til noen butikker. Kun en tax-free shop på 25 kvadrat og en liten kaffe-bar, og vi som dro avgårde litt tidlig, der satt vi da i 2 timer og ventet på at flyet skulle ta oss til tax-free'n på Gardermoen. Og selvsagt var flyet forsinket fra Paris.

Because the shops where closed on saturday, it was not a lot of shopping done. I bought a beautiful silk scarf, and a thimble for my mom :-) We thought that we would shop some at the airport, but were we disappointed!! As travellers to a Schengen country we were not allowed access to the shopping area. Only a small tax-free shop at the gate, and a small coffe-bar, and we left earlyt. We had to sit there for 2 hours to wait for the plane to leave, and take us to Gardermoen(Oslo) for some tax-free shopping. And of course the plane was delayed from Paris.

Jeg har reist mye, og være på mange flyplasser, men dette har jeg aldri opplevd før. Av Europeisk land jeg har vært i med fly, og kunne handle fritt på butikkene på flyplassene er i følgende byer: Amsterdam, Zurich, Madrid, København, Stockholm, London, Glasgow, Dublin, Wien, Kypros, Tallin, Riga, Moskva og Warzawa, men ikke verdens mest besøkte by: Paris.

I have been travelling a lot, and been to a lot of airports, but this I have never experienced. Of the European countries I have been visiting by plane, and was able to shop freely in the airport shops were the following: Amsterdam, Zurich, Madrid, Copenhagen, Stockholm, London, Glasgow, Dublin, Vienna, Cypros, Tallin, Riga, Moscow and Warsaw, but not in the most visited city in the world: Paris.

SKUFFA!!!! DISAPPOINTED!!!!

Men til tross for dette, jeg skal tilbake til Paris, og være der et par dager lengre, for å kunne slappe av og nye dette litt mere :-)

But, inspite of this, I will be going back to Paris, and I will stay there a couple of day longer, to be able to relax and enjoy a bit more :-)

Og til info: Jeg har nå besøkt totalt 27 land i verden. De flest i Europa, men også i Amerika og Asia. Og det kommer flere til listen i sommer.
