Then we were back on Valhall, still aching from yesterday. Saturday seemed to be even longer, it started at 3pm, but we wanted experience Paperboys. They got a complete new audience when Vinnie participated in Korslaget (The battle of choirs). Paperboys was the opening act on saturday, but that did not stop people from showing up, and all the thousands of people was there to hear them play among others, Lonesome Traveller. When this song came and all of the audience sang along on the refrain, even Vinnie looked moved. And I have to admint, that when an artist shows this kind of happiness by his audience, well, then they get extra credit with me.
And it should be said that when Paperboys was done, thousands of people left the arena, something that states their populatity. And I have to admit, that Rap is not my style, but for some reason, this was very good.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I do recommend a Paperboys-concert.
Karpe Diem is a Norwegian RAP-duo, that is very popular, but again, "not my cup of tea". But again - I ahve to admin they were very good live, and they managed to get the audience to dance, sing and some yo's :-)
Slincraze played before Karpe Diem, and the only thing I am going to say about him is that the man is a complete idiot, but he had good dancers along with him
Others that does not deserve recognition in my blog is Betablok and Mortrox. This is far away from whar I want to use my ears for.¨
This picture of Karpe Diem I have "borrowed" from www.nordlys.no

Eline Grønnvoll was easily ignored, it was, of my opinion, not a kind of music for a festival like this, but she did have some fans. Luckily the volume was low enough, so that it didn't bother me much.
Then Katzenjammer came on stage, a couple of hours late (due to a cancelled plane), and what can I say about these girls? They play a music that is a combination of folk, pop, country and a lot of others. They are consitent in their rockabilly style, and gives all on stage. Again - not my style of music, but absolutely not the worst you could listen to. We made the most of the break while relaxing on some wooden pallets.
DUM DUM BOYS -the main attraction for me. Dum Dum Boys has kept it going for more than 30 years, since they started the punkrock band Wannskrækk in the 70's. They are not better than ever and a fantastic live band, that playes fantastic rock with norwegian lyrics. When I look around me I see that the audience varies from teenagers to middle aged. From the one who knows all songs by heard to the one that only knows the greatest hits like Splitter Pine, Englefjes, Slave and more.
The music hits you from the first bear, but it seems like Prepple needs a little time to get warm - that meas when he is on top at the end of the concert, his shirt always come off. The 2 first Dum Dum Boys pics are the last and the first I took. Undressed before Splitter Pine, the other one from the very first song on stage, where he is wearing a leather jacket as well.
The interaction between Prepple and Kjartan is well known, and you could see it several time in stage yesterday. Kjartan is the songwriter but are more retracked on stage.
Prepple is often down on his knees during the concert, he was sitting on the edge of the stage and was even down to interact with his audience. With just enough attitude to be cool as a rockstar should be. but still be able to show your audience that you appreciate them.
It was a fantastic concert. To be recommended
As a contrast to raw norwegian rock, the 80's-band Alphaville entered the stage. They do have 3 big hits from the 80's: One night in Bankok, Sounds like a melody and last but not least Forever young. They were supprisingly good, but thats maybe no big mysteri. They have been playing the same songs for more than 20 years :-)
We left before Snoop Dog entered the stage. And yes, it would have been fun to experience him as well, but the pain in my legs (from standing all day) was so painful that it probably effected my decision to leave. And thinking about these 2 days, and that I actually have enjoyed rap-music as good live-music, I guess I was "scared" that I would come to likie Snoop Dog as well ;-)

Tired, full of music and with the looks of drown cats - we agreed that is has been to great days.
