Then Sweden Rock 2011 is over, and I will definately be there next year too. Great!!!!

We drove (Astrid and me) 1400 kilometers to get there, with a 4 day stop in Stockholm with shopping and a Clapton consert (more about that in a later posting). We arrived early afternoon on thursday, checked in in our B&B and left for the festival area. And I have to admit how well organized everything was. no queues anywhere, 5 stages and food and drinks everywhere.

We downloaded an app that they have developed for Android and Iphone where we listed what we rally wanted to see and the rest we took as surprises. It turned out to be a very good festival.

Accept was on stage when we arrived. But they are not my favourite. Yes, sure, they have some good ones but not my first choice. The first band we checked out was The Cult. It was real good band with a good beat. A good opening of the festival.

My relationship with Saxon is entirely connected to the album "Denim and Leather" and guess what - they did the entire album, and when the title-song 'Denim and Leather' and 'Princess of the night' was played I was so happy :-)

Thursdays headliner was Judas Priest, a band that was big n the heavy-rock-scene when I had my heydays, but they where never my favurite, but it was fun experiencing them live and I cannot say that they wasn't good.
Fredagen startet med Mr. Big - som slapp superhiten "To be with you" for en mannsalder siden.
Friday started out with Mr. Big - the same band the released the superhit "To be with you" ages a go. And Yes, there was a great sing-a-long :)
Festivalens største overaskelse i positiv retning var Down. Helt fantastisk!!!
The greatest surprise of the festival was Down. Absolute the best to communicate with the audience and during there last song, they left all their instruments to, what I suspect is, there tech's, and let them have their 5 min. in the spotlitght, while they was running around the stage singing and interacting with the audience.
A picture with the festival-bear :-)
Some broght kids and some was dressed up a little more than others. This kid was just cool :-)
Rob Zombi entret scenen veldig teatralsk, tøff rock med kult sceneshow. Se facebook for flere bilder. (kun hvis du er min venn der)
Rob Zombi entered the stage very teatrical and with a cool setup. See my face-book page for more pictures (only if you are a friend of mine)
And any teatrical rockband gotta have a good looking guitarist :) That was also the case with Rob Zombi.
And fridays headliner was Whitesnake with David Coverdale in front. What can you say, Whitesnake is Whitesnake and the hits are comming like beads on a string. A lot og Sing-a-longs here.
Saturday started with Hooters, no pictures here unfortunately, but can be seen on Facebook if you are my friend there :) Also a great sing-a-long when they fired up the radio-hit '500 miles'
Then Styx arrived on stage as the next interesting band for us. And mainly because we wanted to hear the old hit 'Boat on the river', which is a walk down memory lane for both me and Astrid. Was kind of disapointed when they didnt play it, but it was great relaxing to good music under the blue sky and sun :-)
After a while with a lot of other bands it was time for Thin Lizzy. And you can say what you want about Thin Lizzy with or without Phil Lynott, but any band with 3 guitar-players is a friend of mine :-))
Saturday and the festivals definitely headliner was Ozzy Osbourne, and I have to admit that I was very sceptical to witness this concert, because I have seen how he is and I didn't wanna see it live, but 'everyone' said that he was great on stage, still. And I was positivly surprised......the first 15 minutes, then the decay was worse by the minute. He looked like an old man that had lost his walker. He still go the voice, but keep it on records not live on stage.

All in all Sweden Rock was a very positiv experience. you could see that they had done this a lot of years, and I will find a place to stay for next year as soon as possible. I recommend this festival for all music-lovers.
ROCK ON!!!!
